"Since childhood, I dreamed of learning to portray snow. What I just did not try! I've spread it with cotton wool, glued semolina, painted colorful dots with felt-tip pens, glued foil and sparkles, embroidered with beads. Not a single natural phenomenon has bothered me like that. How is it possible - to be white and transparent, and at the same time contain glare of all kinds of colors, sparkle and shimmer from the slightest gleams of light? In winter, I could spend hours lying in snowdrifts, looking at the overflow of snow grains, admiring the setting sun through pieces of ice. I described it in poems and stories, trying to comprehend the secret of snow ...

And to this day, every winter I go out with my sketchbook and canvases to capture the beauty of winter. For many years I have been celebrating the New Year in the winter open-air at the Repin Academic Dachas in Vyshny Volochyok. I wrote a snowy Filyovsky park in my native Moscow and a frosty morning at a ski resort in Finland. Did I do it? Come to the New Year's exhibition "Patterns on the Window" with my participation, and see for yourself!"
