The program of the Bulgarian Plein Air - August 2016, 2-3 weeks (dates are specified):

Arrival at the airport of Varna. We bring pictures to the Varna gallery (participation in the exhibition is optional). Opening of the exhibition (exhibition dates are specified)

Then we go to Balchik, where the open-air is held (it is 30 km). Accommodation in a hotel in 2 3-bed rooms.

The town of Balchik is located on the Black Sea coast, very cozy and picturesque, famous for the luxurious Botanical Garden and the palace of the Romanian Queen Maria. The city constantly hosts various festivals, it is a favorite place for artists and musicians. Not far from Balchik is the legendary cape Kaliakra, a very picturesque place with a rich history, where we will definitely go to draw.

Visit the Botanical Garden and the Palace of the Romanian Queen Maria. Wine tasting.

Botanical Garden - the former royal residence - one of the pearls of Bulgaria. At the end of the 19th century, Bulgaria was ruled by Romania, and the residence of the Romanian Queen Maria was located in Balchik. Mary was a follower of the Bahai religion, combining the wisdom of various religious trends. It was according to her design that a unique palace building was constructed, combining various architectural styles, and a beautiful Botanical Garden was laid out around it.

Archaeological Museum. In antiquity, the city flourished and was the second largest city on the Black Sea coast. In 2007, a sensational archaeological discovery was made in Balchik - a well-preserved temple was discovered, erected in 280-260. BC er the Phrygian goddess of fertility, Cybele, who is also called the Pontic mother of the gods.
